Ok. I Know that I am little late to the Party but when this Idea was proposed originally, I wasn't even in the picture. But, I am still doing this now since I liked the idea. Now that I am doing this now, whole year after (I told you, I am a LITTLE late to the party) some of my options might be different. But, I hope that is alright.
For those who don't know what is going on here, basic Idea is you will have a question everyday and you have to answer it based on movies you have seen. But since I am doing it so late, I am going to do this in a single day. Enjoy!! :)
Day 01 - A Sequel(s) That Shouldn't Have Been Made
For those who don't know what is going on here, basic Idea is you will have a question everyday and you have to answer it based on movies you have seen. But since I am doing it so late, I am going to do this in a single day. Enjoy!! :)
Day 01 - A Sequel(s) That Shouldn't Have Been Made
The Matrix Revolutions(2003). First movie has one of the most original concepts in the industry.
But then sequels are kinda mindless action movies which don’t really contribute
much to that concept. Especially Third Part.
Day 02 - A Movie That More People Should See
Day 02 - A Movie That More People Should See
Day 03 - Favorite Oscar-Nominated Movie from Most Recent Ballot
Undoubtedly Inception(2010). It is only 10/10 movie in my list. So yeah, pretty much makes it my favorite movie. After The Dark Knight(2008) I thought that it will be impossible to make a better action flick. But, Christopher Nolan proves wrong again. It makes The Dark Knight Rises(2012) much more exciting.
It is actually an Indian movie Andaz Apna Apna(1994). It came like 17 years ago
and still never fails to make me laugh even though I know every little thing in
it.
Day 05 - A Movie You Loathe
Day 05 - A Movie You Loathe
Twilight. Any one - you pick. I hate them all equally; to an extent that I have not watched anything with Vampires since then. Kristen Stewart with lack of absolute any emotion on her face does only one thing - she irritates. And Robert Pattinson, first of all he is like 7 shades whiter than he should be, is no better as well. I have not read any of the books but all the movies are just trashy.
Finding Neverland(2004). And still I have seen it many many times.
Day 07 - Least Favorite Movie by a Favorite Actor/Actress
The Da Vinci Code(2006). I Love Tom Hanks. I Also Like Ron Howard. I Loooove Dan
Brown's Novels. So I was quite excited to see them come together to make
The Da Vinci Code. However, they just ruined it completely. I remember
it watching with my friends and almost all the time whining about how
could they do this?
Day 08 - A Movie That Should Be Required High School Viewing
Requiem for a Dream(2000). It's probably one of the most disturbing movies I have seen. It shows the dark side of Drugs Addiction maybe with a little too much of intensity for some to stomach. However, once you see it, it is impossible for you to forget this specially staccato narration and Ellen Burstyn is awesome.
Day 09 - Best Scene Ever
Not only best but probably even longest. Shooting scene in LaLouisiane Tavern from Inglourious Bastards (2009). Total run time for this scene is around 20 minutes. But it is such a powerful scene that not even for a second it looses it's grip. Right from the First Card Game till the final Shooting where everyone except Diane Kruger ends up dead, it keeps you riveted to your seat.
Day 10 - A Movie You Expected to Dislike But Loved
Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 2(2011). I loved Harry Potter Books and hence naturally, movies were a little put off. However, Deathly Hallows Part 1 was great, very close to what I was expecting and with all the promos, part 2 looked really nice too. But just blatant ignorance of the base material in the movie completely disappointed me. I can say that it's a good movie; just remove that Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows name from it. Then it's all good.
There should be many but first one that comes to my mind is, actually are, "Strange Changes" by The Weepies and "Strip me" by Natasha Bedingfield from Morning Glory(2010). Whole band singing Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" in Almost Famous(2000) after their fight probably will be close second
Day 13 - Favorite Animated Movie
Wall-E(2008). I could have picked Grave of the Fireflies but though it is an amazing movie, it is too difficult to watch. Best part of Wall-E is it does not have an age limit on it - Anyone can easily enjoy it and adore it.
12 Angry Men(1957). Sidney Lumet's Debut to the Big Screen is about 12 members of Jury who have to decide he fate of Young Boy. It is an excellent example of how prejudices and preconceptions affect your decision process. It becomes even more effective because whole movie takes place in single room - Jurors Chamber.
Sound of Music(1965). There might be many better musicals out there but Sound of Music was my first love and I need to stand by it.
Sweet Home Alabama(2002). You Know why is it my Guilty Pleasure, don't you? :) But I have seen it every single time I saw it playing on TV.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It is one of the rare movies which I truly enjoy as much as the books they are based on.
Day 18 - Favorite Title Sequence
Juno(2007). Image below should explain everything actually. This Graphic novel like Title track does the trick for me for its uniqueness.
Day 19 - Best Movie
Cast
The Departed(2006). I often wonder how great the whole male ensemble cast of The Departed is. Let it be lead cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson or even the supporting cast of Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin - They are all just amazing and they all play substantial role in script - That's Scorsese for you.
The Princess Bride(1987). It is not just a kiss but also dialogue behind it is what makes it so special. Remember that till then, our boy keeps on telling his grandfather to skip the part whenever it comes to a Kiss. And then in the end, his grandfather says "Since the invention of the kiss there have been five kisses that were
rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind. The
End
"
Ingrid Bergman is sure to make an appearance. Either of Cary Grant in
Notorious(1946) or Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca(1942) with her would do. It almost hurts to see them together in either of the movies.
Day 22 - Favorite Final Scene/Line
Day 22 - Favorite Final Scene/Line
Inception(2010)
Again or The Prestige(2006). Ummmm I don't know. I can go on talking about
last scene of Inception for hours at length but Michael Caine's
revelation in The Prestige was one of the Genuine "WHAAT THE XXXX"
moments. It's hard to decide which one is better.
Day 23 - Best Explosion or Action
Day 23 - Best Explosion or Action
Opening scene of Saving Private Ryan(1997). It’s just Fantastic and real and gory and so many other things that make it best scene. And I also
have to mention the opening chase sequence of Casino Royale.
King Theodon: And So It Begins. (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers(2002))
There are hundreds of movies that I want to see in my Netflix Queue, in my Wishlist on IMDb and various other lists that I keep on making. But if I have to choose, Judgement at Nuremberg(1961). Problem is that I haven't been able to get hold of it by any means for a long time. And Psycho(1960). I am almost ashamed to admit that even though I do have it and want to see it, I haven't yet.
Day 26 - Freakishly Weird Movie Ending
Rashomon(1950). It is actually not weird ending - it rather restores your faith in Humanity after you have seen how much pretense means to people to preserve their dignity even after they are dead. But I wasn't expecting it. So I was amazed when the woodcutter says "I already have 6 children. Why do you think I can't take care of one more?"
Day 27 - Best Villain
With the risk of being cliched, Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight(2008). But he was so damn good, I can not resist. Col.Hans Landa should be close second.
Citizen Kane(1941). I know LOT of people will hate me for that but I don’t get
what is so great about it. It is good movie but it’s just isn’t greatest ever
for me. Maybe it will grow on me after I watch it again, IF I ever do that.
I have never really counted it but I definitely have seen The Lord of the
Rings whole Trilogy at least 20 times. I have it on DVD and whenever I go home,
it is one of the things in my checklist.
Julia Roberts' death in Steel Magnolias(1989)(Just another of my Guilty Pleasure movies).
Day 31 - Scene That Made You Stand Up and Cheer
Day 31 - Scene That Made You Stand Up and Cheer
I can't really think of one right now because I have never actually done that but probably I cam closest after Andy Dufresne's escape from Prison in The Shawshank Redemption(1994).
Great post! I found myself trying to fill in the blanks for my own personal favorites, makes me want to go ahead and do the same thing. Good job
